April '98. Here's what our panel told us about Consumer Electronics:
(Survey data processed by Applied Market Research West)
- Sony and Panasonic were the brands most likely to be currently owned.
- At present 84% have not purchased a consumer electronics product on-line,
but are not averse to doing so in the future.
- Respondents typically shop at superstores, discount stores, or consumer
electronics specialty stores for their consumer electronics needs.
- The factors rated as most influential in motivating on-line purchases
of consumer electronics products were brand reputation, past ownership,
familiarity with this type of product, and price. But price received
the most frequent mentions as being the most important purchase motivator.
- Digital cameras received the highest mentions for products that respondents
intended to purchase on-line in the future.
